The voice-powered film tracking app built for analog photographers who want to actually learn from every roll they shoot.
Start Your Free 30-Day TrialYou load a roll, head out, and shoot something that feels really good. Light was perfect. Camera felt right. You knew in that moment you had something.
Then your scans come back a few weeks later, and… you can't quite remember what film you used. Or how you rated it. Or which lab you sent it to that one time the colors looked just right.
You meant to write it down. You didn't. And now the whole roll is a mystery.
Film is intentional. But between loading the roll and getting your scans back, a lot of details get lost.
The whole point of shooting intentionally is to actually learn from every roll. And you can't learn from a roll you can't remember.
Film Talkie is a voice-powered analog film tracker. Instead of typing out your settings with cold hands or trying to remember everything later, you just speak it. The app captures your roll info — film, ISO, camera settings, date, lab, push/pull, notes — and stores it all so you can review it when your scans come back.
No typing mid-session. No forgetting. No more guessing why that roll looked the way it did.
Load your roll, tap record, and say your setup out loud. Film stock, ISO, camera, settings, date — whatever you want to remember. It's logged instantly.
Shoot your roll. When you drop it off or mail it out, open Film Talkie and add your lab, any push or pull notes, and when you sent it.
When your scans come back, return to that entry and speak your results. What worked, what didn't, what you'd do differently next time. That's how you actually improve.
No logging shorthand. No forms to fill out. Just talk the way you already think about your rolls — Film Talkie captures the rest.
Film Talkie captures every detail that matters — so when you're reviewing results or troubleshooting a roll, it's all right there.
Film Talkie was designed around one truth: logging should be easier than not logging. So everything about it is built to reduce friction, not add it.
Tap and talk. No typing mid-session, no forms to fill out later. Say what you want to remember and keep shooting.
Every roll you've ever shot, searchable and organized. See what you've shot, what you've sent to labs, and what came back.
Return to an entry when your scans arrive. Add results, note what worked, and actually build knowledge from each roll.
It's right in your pocket when you need it most — loading a roll in the field, at a session, or on your way to the mailbox.
All your roll logs are private and secure. A history of your film journey, saved safely in one place.
The more you log, the more you know. Over time, Film Talkie becomes a personal record of what works for your cameras, your film, and your eye.
I've been shooting film for a long time. Long enough to have made every mistake there is — including shooting a roll that came out beautifully, and having absolutely no memory of what I did differently that day.
Film is slow and intentional in all the best ways. But the whole point of that intentionality is to actually learn from it. And you can't learn from a roll you can't remember.
I built Film Talkie because I wanted a way to capture all of that — quickly, in the moment, without interrupting the shoot. Just talk. Let the app do the rest. Then when your scans come back, actually know what you're looking at.
This is the tool I wished existed when I first picked up a film camera.
No commitment. No complicated tiers. Just Film Talkie, working for you — one roll at a time.
Beta pricing — rates may increase as the app grows.
Do I have to pay to try it?
Nope. Film Talkie has a free tier that lets you log up to 5 rolls per month — no credit card, no commitment. Paid plans come with a 30-day free trial too.
What if I'm not great at talking to apps?
You don't need to be. Just say what you'd say to a friend — "I'm shooting Portra 400, rated at 200, sending it to Richard Photo Lab." Film Talkie captures it all. You can also type if you prefer.
What film formats does it support?
All of them. 35mm, 120, 4x5, large format — if you shoot it on film, you can log it.
What does "Founding Member" mean?
Film Talkie is in beta. Founding Members lock in $40/year pricing — even if the price goes up as the app grows. It's a thank-you for being here early.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Your roll logs are private, stored securely, and not shared with anyone. Your film journal is yours.
Who made this?
Film Talkie was built by Kim Hildebrand — a film photographer, educator, and creator of Film CONFIDENT. She made the tool she wished existed when she started shooting film.
Start free, speak your first roll, and see how much easier it is to actually learn from the film you're already shooting.
